minutes in the car . Montagrier has a very popular auberge where you
can dine either in the restaurant or on the terrace under the grapevine
canopy. The auberge also doubles as an epicerie and tabac. There is
also a stunning viewpoint looking over the Dronne valley just a short
walk past the church. Montagrier also has a Mountain bike centre where
you can hire bikes. Tocane has the type of village charm that only
France can offer. Just the place for a walk to get your fresh bread!
Riberac (10 miles) - With the largest market (Friday mornings) in the Dordogne you'll definately want to visit here.
Brantôme (15 miles) - Known as “The Venice of Périgord” because of the way the River Dronne encircles this picturesque town. From its 9th century abbey, to its quirky shops set into the base of the cliffs, Brantôme - deserves a visit.
Périgueux (17 miles) - The heart of the Périgord region. With its designer shops and hidden alleyway cafés,
to its many museums, there’s something for everyone. Oh, and there's an amazing brand new waterpark opened, it's called 'AquaCap' and only opened in May '08 !
Bergerac (40 miles) - Situated on the Dordogne river,
this town is steeped in history. Cyrano de Bergerac was born here, and
as further testament to its history, there are many castles and
chateaux to visit.
Les Eyzies (55 miles), Beynac (67 miles), Sarlat (68 miles), & Domme (73 miles) - South of La Treille each of these towns are well worth visiting although you may have to do them over a couple of days. They're all quite close to each other and there's lots to see and do whether it's for the chateaux, restaurants, museums or the beautiful ancient architecture and history.
Bordeaux (65 miles) - Probably one of the most famous wine regions in the world. There’s plenty to keep you occupied in the city too!
Oradour-sur-Glane (75 miles) - About 12 miles west of Limoges this martyred town is well worth a visit but you may shed a tear or two!
